CLEBC Community Update: Publications and Events in a Milestone Year
The latest resources on estates practice and family law
2026 marks an important milestone for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia as we celebrate our 50th anniversary of supporting the legal profession through practical education, trusted publications, and meaningful professional connections. As we reflect on five decades of service to the legal community, we are also pleased to share several recent updates to our publications and the return of one of our most anticipated annual conferences.
Updated Resources for Practitioners
CLEBC continues to expand and refine the resources that lawyers rely on in their day-to-day practice.
The 2026 edition of Annotated Estates Practice remains an indispensable portable reference for wills and estates practitioners. Designed for convenient use both in the office and in court, the publication compiles key B.C. wills and estates statutes, rules, and regulations in one accessible volume. The resource includes annotations prepared by experienced estates lawyers highlighting important judicial interpretations of the legislation and relevant Supreme Court Civil Rules. The new edition incorporates legislative amendments and case law developments to December 1, 2025, helping practitioners quickly locate authoritative guidance when addressing estates law questions. Annotated Estates Practice is available in both print and online formats.
CLEBC has also released the 2025 Update to Family Law Agreements: Annotated Precedents, a practical drafting tool widely used by lawyers and mediators preparing family law agreements. The publication provides a carefully curated collection of precedent clauses contributed by leading family law practitioners, accompanied by commentary explaining their use and the legal considerations involved. The latest update reflects developments in the law through 2024 and includes expanded commentary on assisted reproduction, fertility law, and polyamorous families; revised material on pension division; new case law addressing unfairness and valuation issues; and updated tax guidance, including discussion of RRIF and RRSP transfers and capital gains considerations. Family Law Agreements: Annotated Precedents is also available in both print and online formats.
Employment Law Conference Returns
We are also pleased to announce the return of CLEBC’s Employment Law Conference, taking place May 7 and 8, 2026, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver, with a webinar option available for remote participants.
This annual conference brings together employment lawyers, in-house counsel, and human resources professionals to explore emerging issues and developments in employment law. The program is shaped by submissions from the legal community, ensuring that the agenda addresses the topics practitioners most want to discuss. In addition to timely legal updates and practical insights from leading practitioners, the conference offers valuable opportunities for networking and allows attendees to complete their Law Society continuing professional development requirements for the year.
Thank You to Our Contributors
