March 2025 was a big month for Indigenous Lawyers in B.C. as TWO Indigenous lawyers were appointed to the BC Provincial Court. Brian Dybwad (Tsetault-Gitxsan Nation) and James Henry (Métis) represent excellence in the legal profession. Brian, a hereditary Chief and elected Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia, served as a Manager of Family Services at Legal Aid BC and has dedicated his career to justice and the protection of vulnerable people. Prior to his appointment, James acted as Crown Counsel with the BC Prosecution Service for over six years, where he held various significant positions and worked on Indigenous initiatives. Prior to his work with the Crown, James was a defence counsel for over 20 years.
